Surrey and Sussex Crematorium

The Surrey and Sussex Crematorium is in Pound Hill, Crawley, and is one of dozens of crematoria and cemeteries owned and operated by Dignity plc, based in Sutton Coldfield.

Location and Directions

Surrey and Sussex Crematorium is on Balcombe Road in Crawley, a little over two miles (three kilometres) north-east of the town centre.

By Train

The most convenient railway station is at Three Bridges. A taxi from Three Bridges railway station to the crematorium should cost about £5.

By Bus

As of February 2024, the no.3 bus stops close to the crematorium. The service operates roughly once per hour in each direction, and links Crawley town centre, Three Bridges railway station, and Gatwick Airport. Routes 422, 603 and 693 either stop a bit further away from the crematorium or run less frequently than route no.3.

By Car

From the M23:

  1. Leave the M23 at junction 10, and follow the signs to Crawley.
  2. Carry on along the A2011 (Crawley Avenue).
  3. At the large roundabout with a flyover, go all the way round and come back along the same road.
  4. Leave the A2011 at the slip road just before the M23 junction.
  5. Turn left onto the B2036 (Balcombe Road).
  6. The crematorium is about 200 yards along on the left.

From the A23:

  1. Join the A2011 at the Tushmore roundabout near Sainsbury’s.
  2. At the large (and usually very busy) roundabout with a flyover, go straight on.
  3. Leave the A2011 at the slip road just before the M23 junction.
  4. Turn left onto the B2036 (Balcombe Road).
  5. The crematorium is about 200 yards along on the left.
